Six Charlotte Major - Custom Trophy

Ubisoft tasked us with crafting a unique trophy for the winners of the Six Charlotte Major. L'Atelier managed the entire process, from trophy design to modeling, production, and delivery.

In May 2022, Charlotte, North Carolina, hosted Ubisoft’s Six Major tournament, a highlight of the global Rainbow Six eSports calendar, where 16 elite teams from around the world competed for top honors.

Given that only a single trophy would be produced, we sought to push creative boundaries, proposing a design inspired by the Japanese art of kintsugi—the technique of repairing broken ceramics with lacquer dusted in gold powder. With Ubisoft’s approval, our design team developed the concept further, moving into design sketches and 3D modeling.

The trophy’s design centered on Thermite, a prominent American unit in Rainbow Six, known for his patience, teamwork, and leadership abilities. Thermite’s distinctive look includes his helmet’s rounded goggles and his special skill to breach nearly any surface in the game. Our team created a detailed 3D bust of Thermite on a custom stand, sending the schematics to our Canadian workshop upon completion.

L'Atelier’s artisans brought the design to life by hand, crafting a “broken porcelain” effect to simulate cracks, with gold lacquer applied in kintsugi style. Once finished, the team carefully transported the trophy to the Six Charlotte Major, where it was presented to the winning team, DarkZero.
